NTHSA Statistic - Number of recalls due to SW faults per year
Looking at the analysis of NTHSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) databases we have analyzed all recalls caused by SW faults:
- The number of recalls doubled in the last five years
- Most of SW failures are causing loss of function rather than unintended behavior (which in some cases less critical if for instance it is a support function)
- Potential hazards: airbag failure malfunction indication, unintended release of parking brake, unintended acceleration etc.
